Saturday, June 15, 2024 With Father’s Day approaching, new research from London Luton Airport (LLA) reveals that even the most mild-mannered dads can become obsessive timekeepers when going on holiday. Nearly a third (29%) of travelers report that their dads take charge of airport logistics, with 15% likening their approach to a military operation. About 20% of travelers confirm that their dad shifts into ‘Dad mode’ at the airport to ensure everything goes according to plan.

This results in 25% of dads constantly checking the clock before their flight departure. Common ‘Airport Dad’ rituals include arriving at the airport earlier than necessary (24%), repeatedly checking passports and boarding passes (22%), and obsessively monitoring departure boards (18%). While some may find these behaviors amusing or annoying, nearly half (44%) of travelers believe they share some of these characteristics, regardless of whether they have children.



To help ‘Airport Dads’ relax, London Luton Airport is offering a limited number of complimentary passes for the newly-opened My Lounge and fast-track security passes this weekend. The airport will also play humorous tannoy announcements, such as ‘Thank you for arriving two hours early’ and ‘Have you checked your passports and boarding passes in the last five minutes?’, to ensure no passengers miss out on those dad reminders.
