Wednesday, June 26, 2024 Lagos Business School (LBS), Africa’s foremost business education institution, has appointed Jameel Verjee, the founder and CEO of CityBlue Hotels, Africa’s rapidly growing local hotel chain, to its advisory board for the LBS Hospitality Initiative. Verjee joins esteemed industry leaders Trevor Ward and Mossadeck Bally in this role. Dr.
Belinda Nwosu FIH, the Academic Director of LBS Hospitality Initiative, emphasized that the initiative serves as a pivotal platform for fostering the growth of Nigeria and Africa’s hospitality sector. It is structured around four core pillars: Advisory, Engagement, Research, and Capacity Building. CityBlue Hotels, known for its innovative hospitality and technology-driven approach across sub-Saharan Africa, currently operates in five countries and has ambitious expansion plans.
Through collaboration with LBS Hospitality Initiative, CityBlue aims to expedite its entry into West Africa, complementing its imminent launch in Accra, Ghana later this year. This partnership will strengthen the company’s focus on executive leadership development and critically, expand CityBlue’s ESG and governance strategy across sub-Saharan Africa. Speaking about the partnership at the Africa Hotel Investment Forum (AHIF), Dr.
