Thursday, June 20, 2024 Greetings from the SPTO’s Division of Sustainable Tourism! The last month was tumultuous in terms of activities for SPTO, jam-packed with important events and insightful debates that were mainly targeted at encouraging sustainable tourism all through the Blue Pacific region. A main attraction for May was the SPTO Tourism Week in Nadi. It highlighted regional consultations and the South Pacific Tourism Exchange.

The Sustainable Tourism Regional Consultations were among events, starting from 1 st and continue till 2 nd May 2024. During these consultations, the main sustainable tourism projects were highlighted, accentuating the significance of tourism’s sustainable practices. The recent edition of the Newsbeat throws light on a Frontier piece with the title – Remembering for Resilience: Nature-Based Tourism, COVID-19, and Green Transitions.



This resource goes deep into the juncture in terms of nature-based tourism, the trials and tests imposed by the pandemic, and the change towards sustainable, and environmentally friendly tourism practices.
