Wednesday, May 22, 2024 Krishna Rao, formerly of Airbnb, has been appointed as the new CFO of AI startup Anthropic, which is supported by major investments from Google and Amazon. Anthropic, a pioneering AI company, has recently announced the appointment of its inaugural CFO, Krishna Rao. Rao, previously associated with Airbnb, has been officially welcomed to the role through an announcement on the company’s blog.
This move comes as part of Anthropic’s efforts to enhance its suite of generative AI models, including the notable Claude, and to bolster its financial strategy. The company, known for its ambitious generative AI systems that replicate human-like interactions, has secured substantial funding from major cloud providers like Google and Amazon, alongside other key venture capital players. This financial backing is integral as Anthropic positions itself as a strong competitor against OpenAI, the creators of ChatGPT.
Additionally, Anthropic has enriched its leadership team by bringing on Instagram co-founder Mike Krieger as the chief product officer. A 2023 Information report highlights that the company is on track to achieve over $850 million in annualized revenues by the close of 2024. Krishna Rao’s journey to Anthropic included a pivotal role as CFO at Fanatics Commerce, a digital sports platform, and leadership positions at Cedar, a healthcare payment and engagement firm.
