Wednesday, July 3, 2024 Korean Air has inaugurated a new air route linking Macao and Seoul, with the first flight having taken off from Seoul and landed in Macao at midnight on July 1. In conjunction with this new service, the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) has teamed up with Korean Air to launch enticing airfare deals and a robust promotional campaign. This campaign includes hosting Korean media groups in Macao, aiming to boost Korean tourist numbers, broaden the diversity of its visitor markets, and solidify Macao’s reputation as a global hub for tourism and leisure.

Korea has emerged as the foremost international visitor market for Macao. This direct air connection promises to amplify international visitations. From January to May 2024, statistics have shown that Korea is the leading international visitor source for Macao and the fourth overall.



With the addition of Korean Air’s new service, the total weekly flights between Macao and Seoul have risen to 35, with an additional three weekly flights to and from Busan. This significant increase in air transport capacity is expected to enhance mutual tourism traffic between Macao and Korea. Starting in September, Korean Air will further expand its service with a new route from Macao to Lisbon, via Seoul.

Travelers will be able to purchase a single ticket for the journey and check their baggage through to their final destination. This expansion in air routes is set to boost Macao’s competitive edge in the global tr.
