Wednesday, July 10, 2024 Kerala Tourism is embarking on a significant revitalization effort for its guest houses, with the state government greenlighting ambitious renovation projects totaling Rs 28.5 crore. These initiatives aim to elevate amenities and facilities across several key properties, promising an enhanced experience for visitors.
At Ponmudi’s scenic guest house, a new block’s interior furnishing is set to be completed at an estimated cost of Rs 99,90,960 by December, highlighting the department’s commitment to modernizing facilities. In Kozhikode, Yathri Nivas will undergo a Rs 9 crore renovation to enhance both its appeal and functionality. Similarly, Yathri Nivas in Devikulam, operational since 2014, will receive a Rs 98 lakh makeover, encompassing building renovations, office upgrades, kitchen enhancements, electrification, and landscaping improvements.
A substantial sum of Rs 10,39,52,619 has been allocated for the conservation, repair, and restoration of the heritage wing at the Kollam guest house, with completion expected within 18 months. Recognizing the significance of Kerala House in Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu, the government has earmarked Rs 6,50,00,000 for its renovation. This initiative aims to enhance facilities at this iconic location, also scheduled for completion within 18 months.
