Monday, May 20, 2024 A standout apprentice from Jet2.com and Jet2holidays has clinched the title of West Yorkshire’s Higher Apprentice of the Year for 2024. Leo Girdlestone, who previously served as a Business Analyst Apprentice at the UK’s largest tour operator and premier leisure airline, was announced as the top honoree in the Higher Apprentice of the Year category during the awards ceremony held on May 9th at the Cedar Court Hotel in Bradford.

Having commenced his journey with Jet2.com and Jet2holidays as a Business Analyst Apprentice in September 2022, Leo has recently completed his apprenticeship, securing a permanent role as a Business Systems Analyst. In his capacity within the tour operator and airline, Leo spearheads the task of collecting, analyzing, and documenting the company’s IT requirements, while also identifying third-party solutions to fulfill their needs.



Commenting on why Leo was selected as a winner, the judges said: “Leo’s apprenticeship journey at Jet2 highlights ambition and dedication. He plays a pivotal role in IT project management and actively champions apprenticeships while embodying Jet2’s core values.” The West Yorkshire Apprenticeship Awards celebrate the remarkable accomplishments of outstanding apprentices, advocates of apprenticeship programs, and supportive employers throughout the region.
