Saturday, June 22, 2024 Mastercard has unveiled its latest Tourism Trends Report, which highlights an increase in foreign card transactions in Turkey for the first quarter of 2024. The report, focusing on spending via international Mastercard and Maestro cards in Turkey and several other countries, analyzes data from January to March 2024 and compares it with the same period in 2023. The findings reveal a 7% growth in transaction turnover and a significant 16% increase in the number of transactions involving foreign cards in Turkey compared to last year.
UK-based cards led in spending, while cards issued in Egypt saw unprecedented growth rates. The cities witnessing the highest expenditure by foreign cardholders were Istanbul, Antalya, Izmir, Ankara, and Muğla, in that order.
