Lava is currently spewing 50 meters into the air from a 1-kilometer-long fissure, impacting local attractions and causing evacuations. Safety and Precautionary Measures Evacuations and Closures: Visitors have been evacuated from the Blue Lagoon thermal spa, one of Iceland’s most popular tourist destinations, which remains closed.

Additionally, the town of Grindavik, located a few kilometers northeast of the eruption site and home to 3,800 people, has also been evacuated. The roads around Grindavik are closed to ensure safety.
