Tuesday, July 2, 2024 Translink’s ongoing construction of Belfast’s new major transport hub, Grand Central Station, has prompted several changes to Metro, bus, and rail services across the city. Scheduled to open this autumn, the new hub will be ten times larger than the current facilities and is designed to cater to 20 million passengers annually. The station is expected to become the largest integrated transport facility on the island of Ireland, transforming the city’s public transport landscape.
Starting from Wednesday, July 3, bus substitutions will be operational between Belfast and Lisburn to accommodate rail infrastructure works for Grand Central Station. Train services from Lanyon Place to Lisburn stations are affected by a line closure that will remain in place until early autumn. Passengers can use express bus substitutions between Belfast and Lisburn, while a shuttle bus will run every 30 minutes between Lanyon Place and Europa Buscentre, serving stops near City Hospital, Queen’s University, and Botanic.
From July 1, Translink announced timetable changes and some bus stop relocations in Belfast City Centre to ensure smooth movement despite intensified rail infrastructure work. Certain Metro routes will see changes in bus stops and timetables to accommodate the construction. These changes are expected to have a significant impact on both local and international travelers.
With enhanced connectivity and more efficient travel routes, passengers will benefit f.
