Wines from regions including Hawke’s Bay, Auckland, Central Otago, and Marlborough have earned their spots on this esteemed list.
Celebrating its 40th anniversary, the International Wine Challenge bestowed medals upon 38 countries after a rigorous blind tasting conducted by a worldwide panel of experts. New Zealand ranked sixth in terms of total medals, with six wines receiving prestigious trophies. Notably, the nation secured two of the seven International Varietal Trophies, with its Syrah and Chardonnay being acclaimed as the finest globally.
New Zealand wines judged best in show at IWC 2024: Hawke’s Bay’s Church Road had a remarkable year, securing 11 medals along with the prestigious New Zealand White and Red Trophies. Their Grand Reserve Chardonnay 2021 soared to international acclaim, dethroning South Africa for the title of world’s best Chardonnay. Meanwhile, Auckland’s Kennedy Point Vineyard notched an impressive win, triumphing over competitors from eleven countries to capture the highly coveted International Syrah Trophy with their Syrah 2021.
