Friday, May 31, 2024 Jhansi, India, reported an unprecedented all-time high temperature of 49 degrees Celsius (approximately 120 degrees Fahrenheit). This heatwave is part of a trend of record highs across northwest India over the past few days. According to Jason Nicholls, AccuWeather’s Lead International Forecaster, “It will remain hot into the weekend, but it is not expected to be as extreme as the past couple of days.

” Nicholls also highlighted the lack of nighttime relief, stating, “Minimum temperatures are only dropping to roughly 30 degrees Celsius, or 86 degrees Fahrenheit.” Dr. Joel Myers, AccuWeather Founder and Executive Chairman, commented on the broader implications of these heat conditions, drawing on AccuWeather’s extensive historical weather data.

“Some projections of heat conditions based on correlations from our data show that global temperatures could become significantly higher than what current climate models are saying,” Dr. Myers explained. “The impacts of climate change and global warming will be highly local, and the warming will be unevenly distributed.

Regions like India may experience a more significant temperature increase than the global average.” Dr. Myers expressed concern for areas where high temperatures approach human survival limits, such as parts of India and Pakistan.

“The record heat we are seeing in India right now is dangerous, especially for the young, the old, and those with compromised immune systems.” He fur.
