Recent findings from AeroCloud, a pioneer in intelligent airport management, indicate that 69% of American travelers intend to maintain or boost their air travel for leisure or business over the next year. Importantly, 59% of these travelers are choosing airports that provide superior experiences.

Titled “The Destination Airport: The Runway to Revenue Growth,” the study involved 2,000 U.S. consumers and highlights key areas where airport executives need to focus to leverage the anticipated travel upsurge, projected to hit 9.



7 billion passengers in 2024. The study notes a shift away from airport loyalty, with travelers prioritizing faster service at check-in and security as crucial factors in airport selection. Enhanced Passenger Experiences Linked to Increased Spending Travelers tend to spend more during a streamlined airport experience.

For instance, 79% of travelers would increase their spending if they could expedite their check-in and security processes. Additionally, 59% of travelers arrive early to enjoy shopping, dining, or relaxing, further increasing potential spending at the airport. On average, travelers spend about $52 at airport restaurants, $47 on parking, and $35 on gifts per visit.

However, 60% of passengers feel they lack the time to explore airport amenities due to prolonged processes, limiting potential.
