Wednesday, June 19, 2024 This winter, Adelaide, also known by its indigenous name Tarntanya, will transform into a radiant spectacle of lights, music, and technological artistry. From July 4 to July 21, the Illuminate festival promises to cast a warm glow over the city with its breathtaking displays and performances. The event spans three exhilarating weekends, packed with a rich tapestry of activities that blend art, light, music, and cutting-edge technology.
The heart of Adelaide’s CBD will become a canvas for creativity, hosting an array of both ticketed and free events designed to captivate and engage audiences of all ages. Among the ticketed highlights, the Fire Gardens at Adelaide Botanic Garden stands out with its fiery sculptures that light up the night in a dramatic play of shadows and flames. Meanwhile, Adelaide Zoo will offer a unique after-dark experience with ‘Universal Kingdom’, featuring mesmerizing puppetry and animations that bring fantastical creatures to life under the stars.
Music and digital art aficionados will be treated to an international lineup of performers and installations. Dutch pianist Joep Beving is set to enchant audiences with his ethereal compositions, while British electronic musician Max Cooper will weave auditory landscapes with his intricate sound designs. From Berlin, the interactive digital exhibit ‘Eden’ promises to immerse visitors in a visually stunning environment.
