Wednesday, June 5, 2024 IHG Hotels & Resorts (IHG) has announced a management agreement with AXA IM Alts to open Holiday Inn Kyoto Gojo by early 2025. This opening marks the return of the Holiday Inn brand to its roots in Japan, where the first Holiday Inn opened over 50 years ago in 1973. Holiday Inn Kyoto Gojo will be the eleventh Holiday Inn in Japan and IHG’s third hotel in Kyoto, joining ANA Crowne Plaza Kyoto and the recently opened Six Senses Kyoto.
The 183-room hotel will undergo a comprehensive refurbishment before rebranding as Holiday Inn Kyoto Gojo. The revamped hotel will feature dining and leisure amenities, including a lobby lounge and café bar, an upscale restaurant, multiple banquet rooms, traditional Japanese daiyokujo baths, and a gym. Renovations will include a new open-lobby lounge and café bar, a state-of-the-art gym, and a comprehensive refurbishment of all guest rooms.
Energy efficiency will be a priority, with the installation of energy-saving showers, guest room management systems, and other new facilities. The hotel aims to achieve BELS certification for its energy conservation efforts. Strategically located between Kyoto’s main station and numerous cultural heritage sites and traditional restaurants, the hotel is ideal for visitors arriving via the Shinkansen bullet train.
Kyoto’s tourism market has shown a robust recovery post-pandemic, with visitor numbers now exceeding 2019 levels. Upon opening, the hotel will leverage the globally rec.
