Saturday, July 6, 2024 Hyderabad is poised to witness a significant enhancement in its public transportation network with the nearing completion of the Cherlapalli Rail Terminal. Situated on the city’s outskirts, this state-of-the-art facility is designed to streamline transit operations and cater to the burgeoning demands of Hyderabad’s populace. Constructed with an investment of Rs 430 crore, Cherlapalli Rail Terminal is analogous to airport terminals in its structure and amenities.
The terminal is meticulously planned to alleviate the pressure on existing railway stations by efficiently managing passenger flow and train operations. The terminal is outfitted with six booking counters and features four newly constructed high-level platforms, augmenting the existing five platforms which have been extended to accommodate full-length trains seamlessly. The facility’s design prioritizes passenger convenience with spacious concourse areas, facilitating smooth movement within the terminal.
To enhance accessibility, the terminal includes two new foot over bridges—one 12 meters wide and another 6 meters wide—ensuring easy platform transfers. All nine platforms are equipped with escalators and lifts, making them accessible to all passengers, including those with mobility challenges. Furthermore, the terminal boasts advanced coach maintenance facilities, ensuring that trains originating from Cherlapalli are well-maintained and ready for service.
