Friday, July 12, 2024 The Estonian Transport Administration has embarked on a pioneering project aimed at transforming how people access and utilize travel services within Estonia . This ambitious initiative seeks to create a comprehensive online platform that integrates various transport service providers, allowing users to buy public transport tickets, order taxis, hire cars, and plan their journeys—all in one place. Such a platform promises to significantly impact the travel industry, particularly in terms of convenience and efficiency for travelers.

The cornerstone of this innovative project is the MaaS X-road, a proposed integrated data exchange platform for mobility services and ticketing. To pave the way for this development, the Transport Administration has issued a call for a contractor to conduct a thorough analysis. This analysis will determine the technical and legal feasibility of the proposed platform.



Helen-Liis Ridbeck, the mobility project manager at the Estonian Transport Authority, highlighted the importance of this initial step. She emphasized the need to address technical and legal questions before moving forward with the actual development. The envisioned platform aims to bring together various transport services, including buses, trains, taxis, and car rentals, into a single online environment.
