Saturday, June 29, 2024 Travel platform Traveloka has established a key partnership with the Filipino budget airline Cebu Pacific to enhance travel opportunities within Southeast Asia, particularly to the Philippines. Together, the two entities aim to draw more international visitors to the Philippines by integrating an application programming interface (API) that enables inbound travelers to access flight options through the travel application. This collaboration aligns with Traveloka’s goal of aiding the Southeast Asian tourism sector’s recovery post-pandemic.

The initiative is anticipated to significantly aid the development of tourism in the Philippines by simplifying the process for international visitors to discover the nation’s vibrant locales. In 2023, Traveloka reported a quintuple increase in interest for flights to the Philippines via Cebu Pacific. The tourism industry in the Philippines continues to exhibit robust growth annually.

In 2023, the Department of Tourism noted an influx of over 5.4 million international visitors, with a goal to attract 7.7 million by 2024.

Additionally, in 2024, Traveloka observed a 2.5 times increase in searches for flights to the Philippines’ top five airports compared to the previous year. The most sought-after destinations in the Philippines on the platform are Manila, Laguindingan, Cebu, Davao, Boracay, and Palawan.
