Today marks the introduction of a groundbreaking data and analytics platform poised to transform the Canadian tourism sector and spur economic expansion. The Canadian Tourism Data Collective represents an unprecedented, secure, centralized system aimed at leveraging data to bolster Canada’s competitive edge.

This platform was unveiled during the Hotel Association of Canada’s Annual Conference in Montreal. It represents a collaborative effort involving Destination Canada, Statistics Canada, and the Department of Innovation, Science and Economic Development. This initiative is a cornerstone of Destination Canada’s 2030 Vision—’A World of Opportunity.



’ Launched just a week prior, this new strategy outlines aggressive goals for the Canadian tourism industry. It seeks to restore and elevate Canada’s position in the global tourism rankings and could potentially generate annual revenues as high as $160 billion. The introduction of the Data Collective coincides with recent findings from the World Economic Forum’s Travel and Tourism Development Index 2024, which indicates that Canada has advanced two spots to 11th place.

However, further efforts are needed to boost Canada’s standing and break into the top seven. The platform has also garnered accolades for its influence and pioneering use, securing the Best Use of AI for Not-for-Profit or .
