HOLIDAY makers set to fly with Aer Lingus "won't see any more cancellations," a travel agent chief has said. Aer Lingus pilots suspended their strike after union leaders backed a pay rise offer late on Wednesday night. IALPA, the professional body for Irish airline pilots, voted to recommend accepting a Labour Court deal which includes a 17.

75 per cent pay rise over four years. The union's recommendation means the pilots' association will stop its industrial action temporarily until a vote is held among its members . Speaking with RTE 's Morning Ireland, Clare Dunne, chief executive of the Irish Travel Agents, welcomed the union's recommendation.



Dunne said: "We're absolutely delighted that IALPA have decided to recommend acceptance of the Labour Court proposals, and even more so at the moment that they have also suspended the work to rule which is fantastic news . "It means that although the cancelled flights, we don't expect them to be un-cancelled. "But it will mean that we won't see any more cancelled flights for the duration of this process, which is really good news.

"So people can get back to enjoying the run-up to their holidays and looking forward to getting away" IALPA president Mark Tighe described the pay increase provided for in the recommendation as a "significant win" for pilots.
