Friday, May 24, 2024 Hamad International Airport ( DOH) is delighted to celebrate a landmark achievement, serving over 50 million passengers within a 12-month period for the first time since its inception. As the airport marks its 10th year, this milestone underscores its pivotal role as a key global aviation hub. Located in Qatar, the airport facilitates 25% of its operations through point-to-point passenger flights.
This increase is linked to a 58% rise in international visitors to Doha in 2023 compared to the previous year, according to Qatar Tourism’s report. This underscores Doha’s growing status as a top-tier travel destination. In 2023, Hamad International Airport expanded its network by welcoming three new airline partners and adding four more in the early months of 2024.
It connected to 255 destinations last year, covering passenger, cargo, and chartered flights, which enhanced its global connectivity and service portfolio. The Airport Council International (ACI) Asia-Pacific and Middle East Air Connectivity Ranking 2023 places Doha second in the region for air connectivity, a measure based on destination range, service frequency, and connection quality. This ranking highlights the effectiveness of the airport’s extensive facilities and the major airlines operating from Doha, leveraging their broad international networks.
The ACI report indicates a continuous increase in air connectivity across the Middle East and recommends developing new airport infrastructur.
