Tuesday, July 9, 2024 Göteborg Landvetter Airport earns a high commendation in the Eco-Innovation Award for its outstanding environmental efforts. Göteborg Landvetter Airport, operated by Swedavia and the second-largest in Sweden, has earned the “highly commended” distinction in the Eco-Innovation Award category from Airports Council International Europe (ACI). This award places it among the top European airports recognized for their environmental and climate initiatives.
It was chosen from a pool of 500 airports across 50 European countries for its exemplary contributions to aviation’s shift towards fossil-free operations. Swedavia, which manages ten airports, is globally acknowledged for its minimal environmental footprint in airport management. In December 2023, Göteborg Landvetter, alongside Malmö Airport, also achieved the pinnacle of environmental performance by securing level 5 certification in the Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) framework.
This framework assesses airports’ climate efforts against the objectives of the Paris Agreement, marking Göteborg Landvetter as a leader in sustainable airport operations within the Nordic region and globally. “It is of course very gratifying to see Swedavia and Göteborg Landvetter being highly commended in the Eco-Innovation Award from ACI.
