Sunday, May 26, 2024 The Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) is excited to declare that The Ascott Limited (Ascott) has achieved GSTC-Committed status due to its adoption of the GSTC Industry Criteria v3.0 without modifications. Owned entirely by CapitaLand Investment, Ascott is a prominent hospitality enterprise boasting over 950 properties in more than 220 cities across 40 countries.

The sustainability efforts of Ascott are encapsulated in Ascott CARES, a program structured around five key pillars denoted by the acronym CARES – Community, Alliance, Respect, Environment, and Supply chain. Further details on Ascott’s sustainability initiatives can be found here. The attainment of GSTC-Committed status verifies that Ascott has embraced the GSTC Criteria, backed by a well-defined plan and execution that has undergone GSTC’s evaluation.

It should be noted that GSTC-Committed status does not equate to certification, accreditation, or formal recognition; it merely indicates that the GSTC Criteria have been integrated into the organization’s policy, strategy, and operations. The aim of GSTC’s programs is to acknowledge and support authentic efforts in sustainable tourism, enhancing trust and credibility among consumers. The GSTC Industry Criteria’s scope covers corporate offices and globally managed branded properties, applicable mainly to accommodation facilities and tour operators under the GSTC-Committed status.

This status will remain effective until the GSTC .
