Tuesday, May 28, 2024 As summer heats up, India’s travel sector blooms, seeing a 40% rise in tourists flocking to cooler destinations like Goa and Nainital. As the mercury climbs in India, summer vacationers are flocking to various destinations, leading to a remarkable 40% surge in travel activities over last summer, as reported by PTI. The boost in travel and hospitality sectors is largely driven by an increased demand for leisure trips.

Despite the general elections slightly affecting the corporate and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) sector, consumer bookings have soared, particularly for beach locales, showing a shift in vacationers’ preferences. KB Kachru, President of the Hotel Association of India and Chairman-South Asia of Radisson Hotel Group, observed a rise in summer travel by 30 to 40%, especially to hill stations and tourist spots near cities. A spokesperson from MakeMyTrip highlighted a significant uptick in travel interest, noting a 20% increase in family vacations and a 10% rise in solo journeys compared to last year.



Cooler destinations such as Himachal Pradesh, Kashmir, Goa, Kerala, and the Northeast are becoming increasingly popular. Representatives from Royal Orchid Hotels Ltd noted a 20% increase in retail bookings from the previous year, with hotels in hill and leisure destinations experiencing notable rises in occupancy. OYO found that 53% of leisure bookings for May and June 2024 favored beach locations, while 47% opted for.
