Olsen Cruise Lines has joined the International Seafarers’ Welfare and Assistance Network (ISWAN) and is being commended for its ongoing dedication to seafarer welfare. ISWAN is a global maritime charity dedicated to enhancing the lives of seafarers and their families through advocacy, the provision of resources, and a variety of welfare services and humanitarian aid. The company oversees a crew of 2,568 across its trio of smaller ocean vessels—Bolette, Borealis, and Balmoral.



These crew members now have access to Seafarer Assistance, a confidential, multilingual helpline available 24/7 throughout the year. This service, provided by ISWAN for Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, offers essential support and assistance to its seafarers worldwide.

Paul Clifton, Head of Crewing at Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines said: “Crew welfare is the centre of everything that our team do ashore. The life of a seafarer is demanding, with long shifts, but as former seafarers, our Crew Management team are well aware that a job a sea is both a rewarding and an exciting experience.
