Thursday, June 6, 2024 Jet2holidays survey reveals a third of travelers find themselves on holiday during Euro 2024, often unknowingly booking during the tournament. Approximately one-third of vacationers find themselves coincidentally abroad during the Euros—many having booked their trips before the football match dates were announced. A survey of 1,700 couples traveling this year revealed that 38% did not know they would overlap with Euro 2024 when they planned their holiday.

While 57% of them intend to avoid the games entirely, 52% are actually excited about the accidental timing. According to the study conducted by Jet2holidays, 33% purposefully scheduled their vacations to coincide with the tournament, and 36% believe that their team’s good performance could enhance their holiday experience. A spokesperson for the package holiday company, said: “The Euros are a huge driver for travel this summer.



Some people may have even sneakily booked their trips knowing full well it would coincide with some of the bigger games, while others may simply want to switch off from it. Whether you want to escape or embrace the football, we are giving holidaymakers lots of choice and flexibility this summer and are offering something for everyone.” The excitement surrounding the Euros has its downsides, with 22% of fans expecting to spend less time with their partners than usual during their trips.
