Friday, May 24, 2024 Embraer , a pioneer in aerospace innovation, has announced a significant expansion of its agreement with Avfuel to increase the frequency of Neste MY Sustainable Aviation FuelTM (SAF) deliveries at Melbourne Orlando International Airport (KMLB) to weekly. The partnership began in July 2021 to support Embraer’s flight operations from MLB, with Avfuel initially supplying one 8,000-gallon truckload of SAF each quarter to Sheltair MLB, the fixed-base operator (FBO) managing storage and services for Embraer. Starting in April, the revised agreement will lead to a substantial increase in SAF supply, with an anticipated total of 240,000 U.
S. gallons delivered in 2024. This marks a significant rise from prior years, with each truckload contributing to a 19 metric ton reduction in carbon emissions, totaling a reduction of 570 metric tons for the year.
“Embraer’s collaboration with Avfuel and Sheltair marks a pivotal milestone in our journey toward net-zero emission flight operations,” said Michael Amalfitano, President and CEO of Embraer Executive Jets. “Our continued investment in SAF demonstrates our dedication to reducing emissions today and driving the industry closer to the net-zero aviation goal by 2050.” C.
