Thursday, June 20, 2024 Edinburgh Airport is set to unveil a new fleet of luggage trolleys aimed at enhancing services for passengers requiring assistance. A dedicated team will oversee the management of this fleet, ensuring trolleys are readily available where needed. To support this initiative, a £1 fee, comparable to other UK airports, will be implemented for trolley usage.

Passengers can conveniently pay via contactless at designated kiosks located throughout the campus, including key areas such as car parks, pick-up and drop-off points, tram and bus stops, and arrival halls. This fee will enable the airport to maintain and improve trolley services, benefiting all users while also funding future terminal enhancements. However, passengers with reduced mobility who have pre-booked special assistance will continue to receive trolleys free of charge.

The new trolleys, supplied by Wanzl, the world’s leading manufacturer of shopping and luggage trolleys, will be introduced on July 1, just in time for the airport’s bustling summer season. Adam Wilson, Chief Operating Officer at Edinburgh Airport said : “Bringing in this fleet of newer, better trolleys – and creating a team to manage their availability – will provide a far better experience for those passengers who need to use them. “To deliver the new fleet, and ensure the trolleys are available those who really need them, we have introduced a small charge similar to those you see at many other UK airports.
