A TRAVELER has given her top advice when it comes to best passport practices. She said a common mistake could cause travel delays. TikToker Kiera Payne ( @keekstravels ) warned others of potential issues that could arise when globe-trotting in a viral video .

The popular practice could be considered defacement of the passport, making it invalid. The issue is getting souvenir stamps from tourist attractions directly in your passport. Some examples include Disneyland in California and Machu Picchu in Peru.



Souvenir stamps are any passport stamps that do not come from a border patrol official. Stamps can come from local attractions as a novelty for travelers. Payne expressed understanding for why people would use souvenir stamps, but said it's just not worth it.

"Put it inside of your travel journal," she advised. "Don’t put it in your passport because you will not make it back home." Payne also pointed out that an agent could really put a damper on the trip by rendering the passport invalid and making it hard to get home.

Several TikTokers chimed in on the souvenir stamp issue in the comments section. People agreed with Payne's stance on the issue. "A passport is something I don’t play with," one wrote.
