Thursday, June 6, 2024 A new high-speed sleeper train service is set to revolutionize travel between Hong Kong, Beijing , and Shanghai. Starting June 15, this service promises to significantly cut travel times, providing a faster and more comfortable option for commuters and tourists alike. The introduction of this high-speed sleeper train will nearly halve the travel time between these major cities.

According to MTR Corporation Limited, the travel time between Hong Kong and Beijing will be reduced to 12.5 hours, down from nearly a full day. Similarly, the travel time between Hong Kong and Shanghai will be shortened from 19.



5 hours to just 11 hours. This significant reduction in travel time is expected to greatly enhance the travel experience and efficiency for passengers. The new service not only aims to improve travel convenience but also to deepen Hong Kong’s relationship with mainland China.

By connecting these key economic hubs more efficiently, the high-speed sleeper train is poised to boost business travel and tourism. This enhanced connectivity is expected to stimulate economic growth and foster stronger business ties between the cities. The high-speed sleeper train will operate from Fridays to Mondays, offering flexibility for both business and leisure travelers.

The ticket fares are competitively priced, with a trip from Hong Kong to Beijing costing around HK$937 (₹10,017), and from Hong Kong to Shanghai starting at HK$682 (₹7,262). These prices will vary base.
