Wednesday, June 12, 2024 Emirates Airline of Dubai is set to launch a new service to Panama City on February 1, 2016. This route will become the longest non-stop flight in the world, taking 17 hours and 35 minutes to travel westbound. For travelers, this means a direct gateway to Central America, opening up new opportunities for both leisure and business.

According to Mark Clarkson, Business Development Director (Asia Pacific) at OAG, as of September 9, the longest non-stop flight route was operated by Qantas Airways. This route, from Dallas to Sydney, covers 13,802 km and holds the record for the longest block time, the total duration from departure to arrival. India also boasts one of the longest commercial flight routes.

The journey from Mumbai to New York (Newark) is serviced by both Air India and United Airlines, covering 12,540 km. While shorter than the Emirates’ proposed Panama service, it remains a significant route for travelers to and from India. While Emirates’ new Dubai to Panama service is set to break records, it’s part of a broader trend where airlines push the boundaries of long-haul travel.

These extensive routes are reshaping how tourists and business travelers connect across continents, making distant destinations more accessible and fostering global interactions. As airlines like Emirates continue to expand their reach with ultra-long flights, the world becomes a smaller place, connecting people and cultures in unprecedented ways..
