Friday, May 31, 2024 The DGCA has issued an urgent notice to Air India, slamming the airline for outrageous flight delays and neglecting passenger care on two international flights. The aviation authority DGCA issued a show cause notice to Air India on Friday for significant delays in two international flights and neglecting passenger care. The delays involved AI 183 from Delhi to San Francisco on May 30 and AI 179 from Mumbai to San Francisco on May 24.
Passengers experienced discomfort due to inadequate cabin cooling. The DGCA highlighted that repeated incidents of passenger discomfort due to Air India’s non-compliance with regulations have been observed. The regulator pointed out that Air India consistently fails to adhere to provisions regarding passenger care, including facilities for denied boarding, flight cancellations, and delays.
The regulator has demanded Air India to explain why enforcement action should not be taken against them for these violations. This notice follows Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia’s acknowledgment of the delays and passenger inconvenience, prompting the DGCA to issue the show cause notice..
