This innovative, secure, centralized platform leverages data to enhance Canada’s position on the global stage. The platform was officially introduced during the Hotel Association of Canada’s Annual Conference in Montreal.
This initiative is a collaborative effort among Destination Canada, Statistics Canada, and the Department of Innovation, Science and Economic Development. It is a pivotal element of Destination Canada’s 2030 Strategy, titled ‘A World of Opportunity’. Launched just a week earlier, the strategy presents ambitious goals for boosting Canada’s tourism sector.
It aims to elevate Canada’s position in the global tourism rankings and potentially generate annual revenues of up to $160 billion. The unveiling of the Data Collective coincides with the recent publication of the World Economic Forum’s Travel and Tourism Development Index 2024, which indicates that Canada has moved up two spots to 11th place. However, further efforts are needed to break into the top seven and enhance Canada’s competitive edge.
