Monday, May 27, 2024 Due to the intensification of Cyclonic Storm ‘Remal’ over the Bay of Bengal, all flight operations between Kolkata and Agartala have been halted. The suspension includes the cancellation of all arrivals from Kolkata until Monday morning. This disruption significantly affects travelers who had planned their itineraries involving these routes.
As of now, flights from other major cities like Delhi, Bangalore, and Guwahati to Agartala are operating normally, but passengers should stay updated with any changes. The Agartala airport authorities have advised that all arrivals from Kolkata are canceled until 0900 hrs on 27 May 2024, and passengers are being notified by their respective airlines. The response to this natural calamity includes comprehensive preparatory measures initiated by the District Magistrates and Collectors as instructed on May 24.
The Secretary of Revenue (RR&DM) is actively coordinating with district officials to mitigate the potential damage caused by the storm. State and District Emergency Operation Centres are operating around the clock to manage the situation effectively. An urgent State Executive Committee meeting was convened on Sunday morning at the Civil Secretariat, chaired by the Chief Secretary.
Key officials, including the Director General of Police (DGP), Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF), and representatives from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the Airport Authority, and the National Disaster Respons.
