Saturday, June 15, 2024 The much-anticipated European Championships are just a day away, set to take place in Germany from June 14 to July 14. Cologne Bonn Airport is fully prepared for the football festival, welcoming passengers, fans, teams, and staff to “Host City Cologne” in true European Championship style. In the airport terminals, official UEFA animations will be displayed on numerous screens, and European Championship flags will be prominently flown.
The centerpiece of the festivities is a massive 3.5-meter replica of the European Championship trophy, located in Terminal 1. Fans, families, and travelers can capture their own souvenir photo in front of this “Giant Trophy.
” Additionally, “Welcome Desks” staffed by volunteers will be available to assist travelers. On the apron, a specially branded electric bus will transport passengers, decked out in European Championship designs. Cologne Bonn Airport has spent months preparing for the tournament, anticipating an increase in travelers.
The airport has worked closely with the City of Cologne’s organization team, authorities, German air traffic control, and other partners. Five matches will take place in Cologne, including four group phase matches and one round of 16 match. The airport expects approximately 160 additional passenger flights and around 30,000 extra passengers, especially during matches in other NRW cities.
