Wednesday, May 22, 2024 On May 20, the Wulong District in Chongqing Municipality, located in southwest China, celebrated the 30th anniversary of its tourism sector’s accomplishments and future aspirations during China Tourism Day, as announced by the local authorities. Furthermore, throughout the year, the district will host an array of engaging events to attract visitors worldwide. These include the Fairy Mountain ice and snow festival, the Fairy Mountain flight festival, the Fairy Mountain international camping music festival, the earth art festival, an outdoor sports event, a pine-climbing contest, and a Harley motorcycle music festival.
Wulong, often referred to as the “World Karst Ecological Museum”, is renowned for its diverse natural features, which include massive sinkholes, rifts, grasslands, canyons, waterfalls, karst caves, forests, and rivers. The region gained additional fame as a cinematic backdrop when Chinese filmmaker Zhang Yimou chose it as the exclusive location for his 2006 film “Curse of the Golden Flower”. It was also spotlighted in the global film industry when American director Michael Bay shot parts of “Transformers: Age of Extinction” here in 2013.
