Monday, June 10, 2024 Virgin Atlantic marks 40 years with new flights to the USA & Canada, expanding its innovative legacy in aviation. Four decades ago, Virgin Atlantic embarked on its journey with a modestly priced £99 ticket for a flight from London to Newark on a previously owned 747. Now, after serving 21 million glasses of champagne, employing 7,000 cabin crew members, and undergoing five uniform redesigns, the airline is celebrating its 40th anniversary with a vibrant Ruby Anniversary.

Founded by Sir Richard Branson, Virgin Atlantic started with the ambition to disrupt the aviation industry by introducing an exciting and distinctive service to challenge the existing norms. Virgin Atlantic has always been synonymous with the Atlantic. Beginning with its initial flight from Gatwick to Newark, the airline has consistently focused on North America.



Now, it is celebrating the inauguration of its 15th route to the U.S. with a new service from Manchester to Las Vegas.

This new route augments the existing daily flights to Las Vegas from London Heathrow, meeting the growing demand for high-end leisure travel from Manchester and the surrounding region. Virgin Atlantic is thrilled to announce its return to Canada after more than a decade. Starting next summer, the airline will begin direct flights from London Heathrow to Toronto Pearson International Airport.
