Wednesday, May 29, 2024 Cathay Pacific, the award-winning airline based in Hong Kong, is poised to transform the premium economy class with its new fleet of Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. Vivian Lo, Cathay Pacific’s General Manager of Customer Experience and Design, emphasized in a recent interview that the premium economy is “more than just a seat—it’s an entire experience.” The airline has adopted a human-centric approach to redesigning the premium economy cabins, aiming to enhance passenger comfort on their forthcoming Boeing 777-300ERs.

Scheduled for full implementation by early 2027, Cathay Pacific has overhauled the premium economy service introduced in 2012. The modifications aim to elevate comfort on long-haul journeys, necessitating adjustments in several areas, beginning with the seating. Although the seat dimensions remain the same, the new seat ergonomics are designed to be more accommodating.

Enhancements include improved seat padding and a leg rest to aid relaxation, while the new wing-shaped headrest provides added privacy. Additionally, the LED reading light has been repositioned from the cabin ceiling to the seat itself, better aligning with passenger movements whether sitting upright or reclining. Furthermore, the tables in premium economy are now deployed and stowed via automated buttons, streamlining the user experience.

Cathay Pacific has taken this opportunity to enhance its entertainment system. Premium economy passengers can now enjoy 15.6-inch 4.
