Other massive formations of hardened lava surrounding have been carved by the elements and then by early settlers, creating a honeycomb of caves within them. They’re now incorporated into hotels like Argos in Cappadocia which with its just opened spa located partly in those caves is one of the most atmospheric places to stay in the world.

Treatments range from Turkish classics such as a deep cleansing in a hammam, scrubs with white coconut and mint or lavender seed and sea salt and massages with volcanic basalt rocks as hot stones. Facial treatments with products developed by the Swiss company Valmont blend local techniques with modern technology for cellular renewal and increased skin brightness.
