Monday, May 20, 2024 In April, China’s international air passenger traffic recovered to over 80% of pre-COVID levels, highlighting Beijing’s efforts to attract more overseas visitors and the increasing propensity of Chinese citizens to travel abroad. According to Li Yong, a senior official with the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), approximately 5.1 million international air passenger trips were made in April.

This marked the third consecutive month that international air passenger traffic exceeded 80% of pre-pandemic levels. The total number of air passenger trips, encompassing both domestic and international routes, reached 56 million in April. This figure represents a year-over-year growth of 10.
