Tuesday, June 4, 2024 A new study by easyJet Holidays exposes the top threats to tranquility on British beaches. With a whopping 68% of Brits planning a beach holiday this year, the survey of 2,000 adults paints a picture of holidaymakers yearning for relaxation often thwarted by inconsiderate beach companions, or “beach bothers” as they’re dubbed. Nearly all respondents (94%) confessed to having their beach bliss disrupted by bad beach etiquette.

The most common culprits? Booming music from portable speakers (curse you, inconsiderate DJs!), followed by the ever-present litterbugs. Unsurprisingly, a quarter of Brits have actually cut their beach trip short due to bothersome behavior. Interestingly, despite the annoyance, nearly half (45%) wouldn’t dare to confront the etiquette offenders directly.



Perhaps seeking a more passive-aggressive solution, half (50%) expressed a willingness to pay extra for a beach guaranteed to be free from such bothers. To combat these beach blights, easyJet Holidays has enlisted the hilarious Whitehall brothers, Michael and Hilary, as their new “Beach Rangers.” These veteran travelers (Michael’s known for his blunt honesty on the show “Travels with My Father”) will be schooling staff on identifying and addressing beach bothers.
