Wednesday, July 10, 2024 Avianca Cargo and AeroUnion celebrate a year of partnership with a new A330 P2F aircraft, boosting cargo capacity on the West Coast. Avianca Cargo, the premier cargo airline in Colombia, together with its business ally AeroUnion, has revealed the acquisition of the new A330 P2F plane, a model converted from passenger use to freight. This addition is poised to boost AeroUnion’s capabilities and, by extension, the collaborative service the two companies offer to their clientele along the West Coast.
A year into their joint commercial venture, AeroUnion is poised to integrate its inaugural A330 P2F into its fleet. This move will augment its cargo handling capacity by 60% beyond what its existing fleet allows, reaffirming the duo’s commitment to their unified growth plan. This plan not only strengthens the cooperative network between Avianca Cargo and AeroUnion but also anticipates the inclusion of four more A330 aircraft over the 2024-2025 period.
“Freight transportation has shown significant improvement in recent years compared to pre-pandemic levels. Latin American exports have increased by approximately 16%, while imports have seen a 10% recovery. The A330 is an ideal aircraft due to its higher volumetric capacity and lower environmental impact, attributed to enhanced fuel efficiency per ton,” said Diogo Elias, Senior Vice President and Leader of Avianca Cargo .
