Thursday, May 30, 2024 Avelo Airlines has decided to discontinue its newly introduced flight between Tri-Cities Airport and Charles M. Schultz Airport in Sonoma County, only 20 days after its launch. The airline cited low demand as the primary reason for the cancellation, impacting travelers and the local tourism industry.

Impact on Tourists and Travelers Route Cancellation: Avelo Airlines’ decision to cancel the Tri-Cities to Sonoma route comes as a disappointment to travelers who had hoped for an additional option to reach the Bay Area. The route was intended to provide relief for Bay Area-bound passengers during United Airlines’ temporary suspension of service to San Francisco International Airport due to runway construction from May 22 to June 30. Customer Reimbursements: Travelers who had booked flights on the canceled route are being notified and will receive refunds along with credit for future travel with Avelo.

While this provides some compensation, it does not fully mitigate the inconvenience caused by the sudden cancellation. Increased Service to Burbank: On a positive note, Avelo Airlines will increase its service between Pasco and Hollywood Burbank Airport in Los Angeles from two to four weekly flights starting in September. This adjustment responds to higher demand for travel to Los Angeles and provides more options for travelers heading to Southern California.
