Ask anyone who's travelling to Italy what they're most excited about and you're almost guaranteed to hear 'the food'. From classics like pizza and pasta to regional dishes like osso bucco and ribollita, Italy is known for having legendary dining options. But according to one Aussie who's currently holidaying there, it's all a bit "overrated".

"Honestly afraid to say this out loud, but the three weeks we have spent [in Italy] we have hardly had a meal that was worth the money," Hayley wrote, clarifying, "yes we do avoid the 'touristy' places as much as we can." " Hayley noted the pastries, gelato and desserts are always "top notch", but the best meals they have had on their trip were when they visited the grocery store and cooked it themselves.
