An arrest was made after a man was accused of possession of narcotics Saturday morning along a busy Killeen road. A Killeen Police Department K-9 handler conducted a traffic stop at 11:15 a.m.
on Saturday after noticing faulty equipment on a black Ford Crown Victoria. Upon stopping the individual, who appeared to be a younger or middle-aged adult male, the officer noticed signs suggesting that there were illegal substances in the vehicle. Three additional officers were called in for support and with probable cause, a search of the vehicle was conducted, police said.
Upon finding what appeared to be illegal substances the adult male was arrested and charged with illegal drug possession. KPD Sgt. Christopher Stickles, who was called in as backup to supervise the arrest, said details regarding the amount or type of substance found were not available yet.
He did note that the quantity was “not a truckload.” The stop occurred in the parking lots near In-N-Out Burger and Hobby Lobby in the 2000 block of East Central Texas Expressway in Killeen. The vehicle containing the contraband was parked in a row directly across from the T-Mobile store in that shopping area while it was searched.
While the officer who made the stop has been trained to handle K-9 units, they dog was not needed during the search..
