Its ownership by the Krofta family was “supervised” by the Nazi occupiers during the Second World War, and the Alcron was later nationalized in the communist era before the family filed a restitution claim after the Velvet Revolution in 1989. When they had reclaimed it, the hotel had dissolved into a dire state and was taken over by the WSF Group , who restored it to its former glory by the end of the late 90s.
