Conducted by promotions and loyalty experts Snipp Interactive, the study utilized YouGov data to determine the top food and snack brands in the US. They then analyzed the number of Instagram hashtags for each brand to gauge customer loyalty and engagement.

Oreo emerged as the most popular food brand on Instagram, with an impressive 9,776,758 hashtags—six million more than any other brand. With a substantial Instagram following of 3.6 million, Oreo benefits from extensive user-generated content, showcasing creations like Oreo milkshakes and cakes.



According to research, 71.26 million Americans consumed Nabisco Oreo (Regular) in 2020, solidifying its status as a favorite cookie in the US. Additionally, YouGov data shows that 98% of Americans recognize the brand, and 76% have a positive opinion of it.

Kit Kat ranks as the second most popular food brand with 3,783,190 Instagram hashtags. Known for its crispy wafers coated in milk chocolate, Kit Kat is a favorite on Instagram, featuring in content such as cakes, milkshakes, and ice cream. Research indicates that 1,192 million Kit Kat bars are sold annually in the US.

According to YouGov, Kit Kat has a popularity score of 79%, with 98% of respondents familiar with the brand. Snickers holds third place with 1,756,558 Instagram hashtags. The brand enjoys a wealth of user-generated .
