Wednesday, June 5, 2024 The Allan Labor Government is launching a strategic initiative to boost the proficiency and growth of tourism enterprises throughout regional Victoria. Under this new initiative, unveiled by Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events Steve Dimopoulos, regional tourism operators will receive crucial funding and support to enhance their operations and customer experiences. Dubbed the Regional Tourism Network Industry Strengthening Program, the scheme will allocate up to $100,000 to each of Victoria’s 12 Visitor Economy Partnerships and Regional Tourism Boards.

This funding is part of the government’s commitment to fortify the tourism sector by offering extensive training programs. These programs are designed to enhance various aspects of business operations, from digital content creation on websites and social media to sustainability practices and developing accessible tourist experiences that cater to all visitors. This initiative builds on previous successes, such as the appointment of a digital mentor by Yarra Ranges Tourism, which resulted in over 275 training sessions for local businesses, helping them to better market their services online and distribute their products effectively.
