You'll be glad you remembered snacks, drinks and a cooler bag, as well as a few games or activities for your roadside stops.
While on the topic of those, you really don't want to miss throwing a roll of toilet paper and some hand sanitiser in the back. You'll be thankful when you see some of those 'rest stops'. It's old school, yes, but also consider buying a map.
