An American family is asking for better laws around pet travel after their 4-year-old French bulldog, Frank, died beside them while waiting for their flight to depart from Hawaii . After deciding to move back to Oregon , Gary and Angie Engelgau packed up their home in Hawaii and booked flights for themselves and their three dogs, a 15-year-old Beagle-Chihuahua mix named Fawn, Frank and his sister Charlie. The Engelgaus and their dogs arrived at the airport at 10am and outside, the temperature was around 27C, KGW reported.
The dogs were taken through security and then placed back into their carriers, as the Engelgau’s claimed they were “not allowed to have them out of the carrier” in the airport, aside from the pet relief areas..
